Amy Fleming, Chair

Amy Fleming, Chair, has worked at KIMT-TV in Mason City since 1998. She anchors the 4 pm & 5 pm newscasts, and produces/anchors "Covering Your Health" at 10 pm. She also serves on the North Iowa Band Festival committee.

Amy is married and has two children. Her interests include spending time with family and friends, trying new recipes, and watching sports, especially following the Minnesota Twins.

She is serving a 3-year term, which expires June 30, 2011.

Brian Hanft, Vice Chair

Brian Hanft, Vice Chair, is the Deputy Director and Environmental Health Services Manager at the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health. Brian has a bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa with an emphasis in Environmental Science and a master's degree in Public Administration from Drake University. He previously worked for the Black Hawk County and Polk County Health Departments.

He is serving a 3-year term, which expires June 30, 2011.

Deborah Abben, Secretary

Deborah Abben, Secretary, is a Registered Nurse employed by Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. She has a variety of nursing and practice management experience. Deborah has volunteered for United Way, is a volunteer at Opportunity Village, and is presently a full-time student at Grand View University in Des Moines.

Deborah is married and has two children. Her interests include family activities, biking, camping, golfing, and scrapbooking.

She is serving a 3-year term, which expires June 30, 2011.

Candi Schickel, Treasurer

Candi Schickel, Treasurer, is an attorney whose primary area of practice is mental health law, representing those who are being committed for mental illness and substance abuse. Prior to attending law school, Candi was a psychiatric nurse for five years in Iowa City.

Candi's interests include family activities, crossword puzzles, movies, walking, and camping. She is married and has three children.

She is serving a 2-year term, which expires June 30, 2010.

Dr. Bob Friedrichs

Dr. Bob Friedrichs is a chiropractor with a private practice in Mason City since 1982. He is involved in several professional organizations, including the American Chiropractic Association, the Iowa Chiropractic Society, and Rotary International. He was elected Rotarian of the year in 1995.

Bob has been married for 30 years and has one daughter and one son.

He is serving a 1-year term, which expires June 30, 2009.

Scott Tornquist

Scott Tornquist, a member of the Mason City City Council since 2006, is employed by Rist & Associates of Des Moines (Mason City office). He is a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in Construction Engineering & Management. He has been involved in many local organizations, including the Mason City Economic Development Corporation, Mason City Planning & Zoning Commission, Mason City Enterprise Zone Commission, North Iowa Youth for Christ, Mason City Sunrise Rotary, and the Mason City Cable Commission. Scott was the driving force behind the free clinic being organized and brought many community leaders together for the clinic organization.

He is serving a 1-year term, which expires June 30, 2009.

Dr. Mark Johnson

Dr. Mark Johnson, M.D., has served as chairman of the Cerro Gordo County Board of Health since 1987. He is an internist with Mason City Clinic and a resident of Mason City. Mark is a charter member of the Hospice of North Iowa Board of Directors and also serves as the medical director.

Mark is married and has two children. His interests include photography, music, and deep sea fishing.

He is serving a 2-year term, which expires June 30, 2010.
